Cordelia Levine is a powerful witch who enjoys living among humans who have no idea that real witches and supernatural beings exist. In fact, she herself is about to find out that she is destined to be the WITCH OF THE WOLVES, whether she likes it or not. Bishop Daniels is on a mission to take Cordelia to her father an Alpha who wants her home so he can protect her. Here she learns that she is indeed a shifter – a female Alpha. The first plan to protect her is to give her to Bishop as a mate. Not that Cordelia is going to just stand by and allow these men to predict and plan out her future. No – ladies might be expected to be ladies, but Cordelia is a witch with a mind of her own. She sees the pack run by her father is a nearly broken group and when she sees that Bishop, who is much stronger, plans to challenge her father's leadership she begins to believe he might be the right man for the job. WITCH OF THE WOLVES is an intriguing mix of historical, paranormal and romance. As a fan of paranormal, this is really the first I have read with a Victorian background, and it added a few good twists to the enjoyment factor. The societal restraints were evident but though Cordelia was very good at being human she knew she was more. She just didn’t know how different she was until meeting Bishop. The main characters are a good match though there were times when the tension was too much for the fast pace of all that was happening around them. She is a lady but snarky and sure of herself and he was, of course, a gorgeous man who was brooding and secretive. The action and drama will keep readers on their toes and though the attraction between them is immediate, the actual romance is a bit slower in building. Something that might bother some readers is the fact that a number of other characters kept looking at Cordelia as a possession, her worth only for breeding. And her father was the worst of them all, luckily Cordelia isn’t a witch to put up with that nonsense. WITCH FOR THE WOLVES is book one and does leave you hanging, but after enjoying the unusual, fast-paced read you will gladly look for the next one.
