Caring for her beautiful twin nieces, Hannah Antonicelli has adapted to being their legal guardian. After all, it was a shock to the system. FINDING A CHRISTMAS HOME looks at family, forgiveness and new beginnings.
Luke Hutchenson has moved back to the rural Ohio town, where everyone remembers what you did in high school. His father needs help, with a surgery date and a chronic fondness for the bottle. Luke’s brother Bobby is currently in jail, sadly, which isn’t helpful for anyone in the family. Needing a temporary job, Luke starts work at the Rescue Haven dog training facility. One of the trainers – and his neighbour – is Hannah, who with her mom is raising the cute little girls.
Gradually, the story filters back to Luke, who is mainly preoccupied with his father. Hannah’s sister has passed away from an accidental overdose. The twins’ father isn’t in the picture. This sadness keeps Hannah from wanting to date anyone, plus her responsibilities. She also has a secret, which she can’t tell Luke.
This third book in the Rescue Haven series is short and sweet, with just enough dogs and some cranky dog owners to keep pet lovers interested. In particular, we see that it’s dangerous to keep a young dog without training it, because someone is going to get scared when it runs around out of control. No pets were hurt in the telling of this story, don’t worry. Lee Tobin McClain is an animal lover.
While set at Thanksgiving and Christmas, FINDING A CHRISTMAS HOME is less about big meals and gifts, and more about finding family and accepting that nobody is perfect. The small cast makes it easy to follow the emotional challenges, while we see that life in a town is a great deal less anonymous than in a city. This will be good for anyone who likes an inspirational romance.
