Who said life as a demigoddess would be easy? Kyra and her sisters, Zoรซ and Chloe, were perfectly happy whiling away eternity on Mount Olympus, until their impossible-to- satisfy father, Zeus, came down on them like, ahem, a fire bolt from the sky. The three girls are the least effective of the muses he created, and Zeus threatens them with banishment from demigoddess status (which would mean long hours of toil in the Mount Olympus kitchens) if they don't manage to spread some sunshine among the humans. The three sisters must live one year as mortals on Earth, and if they show enough improvement, Zeus will make them full goddesses.
With the prospect of spending forever being worshipped in unspeakable luxury at stake, Kyra is determined to make the most of her banishment to Las Vegas. After all, it's the perfect place to hone her particular talent โ inspiring mortals to believe in good fortune. And she's sure she'll have no trouble with Zeus's final condition: that none of the demigoddesses fall in love with a human man. But just to be safe, she'll stay celibate and keep her eyes on the prize. Everything goes great โ until the owner of the casino where Kyra works starts to see a dent in his profits that makes him suspicious enough to send in an investigator.
Jake Lennox is a professional gambler, and he's willing to bet that the gorgeous brunette walking the casino floor has something to do with the strange pattern his boss is so worried about. He makes it his mission to get close to Kyra, and although she tries to resist, ultimately his combination of bold charm and surprising sweetness wins more than her body. Zeus won't be happy that she's broken his rule about falling for a mortal, but hey...some things are worth the risk.
ALMOST A GODDESS gives us a fresh take on paranormal romance โ not a vampire or werewolf in sight! The author's use of Greek mythology is the strongest element of the story, giving a somewhat dusty storyline a shiny new finish. Kyra and Jake are likable young lovers, and the Vegas setting adds to the fun.
