PLUS SIZE PLAYER features Social Media Fashion Model and Content Creator Nina Ford. We follow Nina's rise as a content creator, getting a traditional modelling contract with an upcoming inclusive fashion brand. Being plus size is just a fact about the vivacious, confident Nina who knows how to live life to the fullest. She doesn't let anyone give her shit about her being plus size, person of colour and being a fashion model. Her confidence and self-belief though are tested when the guy she's falling for turns out to be too close for comfort being associated with her new employer. Nina signs an exclusive modelling contract with RL Fashions and her content creation is suddenly limited to just one brand. In a twist of fate, the brand's owner turns out to be one of the guys she's been dating and falling for. Their love and loyalty to their professional commitments are tested and threatened. What follows is Nina, a player when it comes to dating, finding herself in hot water both personally and professionally.
Throughout the summer we see Nina and her boo falling for each other and rising to new heights in their professions too. What I enjoyed was the confidence of Nina, which comes naturally to her. It was not only the confidence of being plus size and modelling but a natural confidence in all aspects. The friendships Nina has with her girlfriends and her relationship with her parents, especially her mother are nothing short of life-affirming. The various relationships in the story are wholesome and add depth to this love story.
I enjoyed PLUS SIZE PLAYER for its amazing heroine, supportive partner and fantastic friendships.
