Kristy Woodson Harvey is known for her novels which are full of strong female relationships set in picturesque southern locations. BEACH HOUSE RULES has all that and a few intriguing plot twists you won’t see coming.
During COVID, Charlotte relocated from New York City to sleepy, seaside Juniper Shores, North Carolina along with her husband and teenage daughter, Iris. Her life is suddenly turned inside out when her husband is in custody for Federal fraud charges, their bank accounts are frozen, and the police lock them out of their house.
And the icing on the cake is the anonymous local Instagrammer @JuniperShoresSociallite who keeps mentioning the scandal constantly. A woman she attends church with invites Charlotte and Iris into her former Bed and Breakfast turned “mommune” along with a couple of women who needed a place to stay with their children.
The book contains intertwined stories from multiple points of view (including teenage Iris) as all the women work their way through their personal conflicts and baggage to create a unique family. I enjoyed the journey as each character progressed and grew on their journey to their new lives. BEACH HOUSE RULES is a great summer read.
