JUST OUR LUCK is a contemporary romance that joyfully colors outside the lines of the typical fake dating formula.  The main female character’s depth is quickly revealed as someone who has a positive outlook on life and how she views herself, but at the same time struggles with being someone who, she feels, can make her family proud.  Despite Sybil’s positive attitude she often lets her fear of failure prevent her from following through on the more serious aspects of her life.  The reader understands within the first few pages of this book just how impulsive Sybil can be.  Kieran is introduced to the reader just as artfully, clearly revealing he is the polar opposite of Sybil. 

At this point in my reading I truly felt like I could not wait to see how the two characters would actually meet and ultimately end up in a relationship, thinking ‘This is gonna be really exciting’. 

Once I picked up JUST OUR LUCK I could not put the book down because it was such a sweet, sassy and interesting story.  I could not wait to see what Sybil would do next, her character's choices throughout the book were so surprising at every turn.  Even though Kieran is much more predictable in his behavior, I loved his character’s dedication to his family and his responsibilities.  While Sybil and Kieran appear to be complete opposites, it is those differences that make the chemistry between these two characters work so well.

I really like how the author, in her writing, challenges the perception of beauty by the public masses when everyone is looking for Sybil to show up to claim the lottery ticket she left behind at the donut store the night she met Kieran.   Despite his ‘air of annoyance’ at Sybil, Kieran has always seen her as beautiful, and clearly, Sybil is quite comfortable in her physical appearance as well.  I just love that!

Of course, as in any fake romance tale, I was anxious about when the truth would come out about Kieran’s and Sybil’s romance.  I have to say the only word that comes to mind is incredulous in how things go bad really fast.  Don’t worry, JUST OUR LUCK finishes with a HEA this reader definitely loved.
