Bad Seed

Romance

BAD SEED is the fifth book in the Jubilee, Kentucky series but can be read as a standalone. That is what I did, but after reading BAD SEED, I am definitely going to read all of the previous books!

Harley Banks is a much sought-after financial wiz and private investigator.  She has just wrapped an investigation that ended with the breaking up of a sex trafficking ring. She’s now been hired by the owner of Serenity Inn to do an audit and find out why so many complaints are coming in.  Head pastry chef, Brendan Pope falls for Harley the first time they meet. She is strikingly gorgeous, and smart and can banter with him very quickly. Plus she loves it when he makes food for her.  They see each other daily and the instant love is happening very fast. They also happen to work very well together as they begin their investigation, the action and tension ramps up and doesn't stop.

Compelling and very involved, BAD SEED moves quickly, uncovering one suspect after another while also tying the extended family together.  Suspense is always fun because Sharon Sala doesn't always tread in familiar suspense lines. We spin-off to follow different characters of the Pope family.  BAD SEED will stay with you for a long time after you finish reading it. Several times I found myself desperately wanting to keep reading, to find out what would happen next, but I was afraid to turn the page, scared of the possible fates awaiting these characters.

BAD SEED is an awesome book! It is well-written with a great cast of characters.  It was very hard for me to put down. It will keep you wondering what will happen next. I loved every minute of this story as well as the Pope family and hated to see it end.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Fresh Fiction.  Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

SUMMARY

Can she have the man of her dreams and the life she's always wanted?

It's love at first sight when head pastry chef Brendan Pope meets private investigator Harley Banks at the Serenity Inn in Jubilee, KY. Harley is staying there for her latest investigation. But unknown to them both, Harley has a hitman after her, courtesy of the wrong-doer she put behind bars on her last case. The FBI gets involved to clean up the loose ends so Harley can continue the investigation at the inn. But after nearly losing her, Brendan will stop at nothing to make sure Harley is safe and the criminals get their comeuppance.
