Lady Georgiana is happy for a moment of peace after the birth of her son. But that moment doesn’t last long. Flocks of people descend upon the house. Her brother, the Duke, and his family arrive looking at nearby schools for their son. The King asks Georgie to host Mrs. Simpson as the press starts noticing her more. Sir Hubert is on his way home – and he’s invited a film crew. They won’t be staying at the house, but they will be using the grounds for filming. Mrs. Simpson is supposed to be hiding and thus keeps to her rooms once the film crew arrives. She’s desperately unhappy.
The film crew starts encroaching on the house. First, they’re invited to dinner. Next, they want a room inside the house to warm up between takes. Before long, they’re thinking of filming inside the house too. It’s all too much.
But nothing prepares Georgie for the disappearance of the child actress on set. She’s gone missing, presumed kidnapped. And then one of the film stars is murdered. Of course, the police are called in, but Georgie thinks one of the farm boys knows more than he’s saying. Can Lady Georgie once again solve a murder? And will it be before everything blows up in their face?
WE THREE QUEENS is the 18th book in the Royal Spyness series – a historical cozy series. World War II has been looming and getting closer still. It’s interesting to see the romance between King Edward and Wallis Simpson from an outside angle. It’s lovely to catch up with old favorite characters and to meet some new ones. The film characters added extra drama to this book. I love seeing Georgie as the lady of the house. I really liked the sweet moments with her son and how she stuck to her guns about raising him against everyone’s advice. I can’t wait to watch him grow up. This is one of my favorite cozy series; I’m always happy for another adventure with Lady Georgie.
