MISTLETOE AND MISCHIEF are reissued stories both originally published in 2008.
Two seasonal tales by Debbie Macomber who writes from her heart and her faith. The largest part is her faith in people to do the right thing. It seems an interesting goal in times when doubt of that is ripe. But not in this writer’s world. And so we are welcome to two uplifting stories that center on good people.
In Debbie Macomber’s world, there is an abundance of good well-meaning compassionate folk.
In MISTLETOE, part of the Cedar Cove Christmas series, our attention is on Holly Jo who has been under the watchful eye of two older brothers. Obviously, they haven’t really been looking closely enough since Holly Jo winds up pregnant and very single. The father of her child has virtually disappeared into the wind. We are invited to watch as Holly Jo heads off to Cedar Cove to find David. David is missing in action. Holly Jo gets to meet his folks and sister. The citizens of this small town are keeping a close eye on this stranger who arrived at Christmas time very pregnant, in fact, all are aware that Holly Jo just might be closer to the birth of her child than she expects.
MISCHIEF is part of the 1225 Christmas Tree Lane series. Beth and Kent’s story is interspersed with a vast collection of neighbors and friends who were experiencing changes and reflections on their lives during the holiday season. Bailey and Sophia, daughters of Beth and Kent had conspired to bring their family together. After three years the divorce of their parents weighed on them. The plot was to see if it was a shared issue. Was it possible that their parents also regretted taking that step after all these years? Christmas was special to the family filled with traditions and memories. Would it be enough to reverse the path this family was on?
This is a lovely combination of two well-loved stories by Debbie Macomber. Truly examples of her faith and devotion during this holiday season. The characters are just wonderful, and their dialog is filled with warm and at times witty moments.
