"Finding perfection is unexpected for the mob saint"

Fresh Fiction Review

Mob Saint

Seamus “Shay” O’Rourke didn’t expect to fall for someone named Tiernan Furrey – as anyone knows that is a man’s name but – the beauty before him has absolutely nothing masculine about her. It will take a MOB SAINT to keep his mind on his duty.

MOB SAINT is the fourth of author Sabine Barclay’s “O’Rourke Brotherhood” and might be the best so far. Ms. Barclay has a way of developing her characters that give you time to get to know them and understand where they are coming from. Readers will quickly know and understand them as a person and as a couple from the very first page and follow along as they quickly figure out that they belong. The O’Rourke’s might be mobbed up, but they believe in family, protecting those they love and accepting that they are not perfect.

I enjoyed the way these guys pick a nickname for their women and only they can use it. For Tiernan she is called Tiera – even before they are officially together, he thinks of her that way. We also get to see them more at play – and realize that both Shay and Tiera are very athletic. The author allows those of us who know nothing about rugby to learn a bit about it so we can clearly see the action. The only problem I did have with this book is the less-than-flattering comments on the woman’s size – though Shay is there to put a stop to that stuff, and she learns to him she is perfect.

MOB SAINT is dark but not over the top as this book seems to play more on the couple getting to know one another, showing their pasts and pulling the reader back into the present. It is sometimes very emotional as Tiera relives her marriage, funny as we see the brothers/cousins at their snarky bests and steamy because – well it’s a dark mafia book.

There is a lot to enjoy about MOB SAINT and the faster you get your hands on it the faster you can sit back and enjoy.

SUMMARY

They call me a saint, but I’m really the Devil in disguise.

I’m more than I appear.

I’m smarter than people think.

I like it that way.

Cross me, and you’ll soon find out who I really am.

She’s mine to love and protect.

And that’s exactly what I’ll do.

Pleasure awaits her, and I’ll be the one to give it to her.

Get between us, and there’ll be nothing left but ash.
