The whole time I was reading HEAVY HITTER, I kept picturing Taylor Swift and Jason Kelce. HEAVY HITTER is the story of a professional athlete and a popular singer. In this story, he is a baseball player and not a football player, but it still feels like the Taylor and Travis story. Jimmy is a pro athlete, in his late thirties, thinking his career is just about finished.
Lacey is a pop superstar. She is very popular, but off stage, her life is lonely. It's not like she can go out without a disguise unless wherever she is going has been swept by her security team. Her ex really messed with her heart and you will wonder if she can "shake it off". Sorry, I couldn't help it! When you read about her ex, you will totally be thinking, Matty Healy just like I was and I'm not even a Swiftie! If you enjoy Grumpy vs. Sunshine, HEAVY HITTER will be a very enjoyable read.
HEAVY HITTER is a quick read and you will be right in the middle of this messy and sometimes funny relationship. Lacey and Jimmy are total opposites of each other, but can't help the pull they feel. They don't really get to spend much time together and they are mostly in other cities so there are many phone calls, texting, and sexting. Overall, HEAVY HITTER is an enjoyable read and I will say, I wish the story had been longer. There was so much more that could have been added to the story.
