I've never read a Jamie Brenner novel before, but after reading A NOVEL SUMMER I am going to find her previous books and do some binge reading! This story place in a beautiful beach town and involves a bookstore. Yes, please! What more could a reader ask for when we all love books about books?  A NOVEL SUMMER involves three friends who are all involved in the book industry.  Shelby is an author, Colleen runs the local bookstore that is owned by her family, and Hunter is an editor.

Shelby has just written her first fiction novel, based loosely on her living in Provincetown, during the summer when she was in college.  A NOVEL SUMMER finds Shelby coming back to Provincetown for her book signing and expecting to reconnect with Colleen and Hunter.  Well, things don't go smoothly and someone is angry with Shelby and the things she has written. Colleen has a health emergency and Shelby winds up staying for the summer to help her out at the bookstore.  Shelby will also reconnect with Justin, the guy she dumped and broke his heart when she left after college to move to the city and the publishing world.

As all three women and Justin muddle their way through the summer, new beginnings are happening for all of them.  A NOVEL SUMMER would be the perfect addition to your beach bag.  Secrets, mistakes, and revelations are plentiful in this wonderful story.  I related to each woman's story and struggles and felt like I learned from them as they handled secrets being revealed.  There is so much heart in Jamie’s writing that I was left with a huge smile on my face and my heart very happy. All of the characters are very interesting and believable, so much so that I felt as if I had known them for a long time. Now I need to figure out how to fit more of Jamie’s books into my reading plans!
