Legal thrillers are not what he's known for though so when I picked up #1 LAWYER I wasn't sure how the author would go about drawing his readers in. Well, it is no surprise to this reader that I was hanging on every chapter and could not put this down for even a minute because it just kept getting better and better.  Stafford Lee Penney is undefeated as a defense attorney in Biloxi, Mississippi. Shortly after winning one of his biggest cases, his wife is murdered, sending Stafford Lee into a dark spiral. He goes into a drunken stupor for a year and alienates his friends and his business is barely surviving. With the help of his friends Mason and Jenny, he claws his way back into the courtroom. Just in time too because he's in for the fight of his life when he has to fight for his own freedom.  I have always been a fan of James Patterson’s novels. I've read all of The Women's Murder Club and Alex Cross series and this story was just as outstanding. The story has a fast pace that makes you want to keep reading. If you are a fan of James Patterson or legal thrillers, then you need to run to the bookstore to get this book!
