THESE TANGLED THREADS by Sarah Loudin Thomas is a story I was so excited to get to. It did not disappoint! Sarah gives her readers a wonderful story of letting go of the past and leaning into the people who are standing by, waiting to help even if you don’t realize they’ve been there all the time. This beautiful tale is filled with friendship, sacrifice, forgiveness, and love and readers will fall in love with most of the characters and what they are dealing with. At times I found myself frustrated with some of the people but still loving them and wanting them to untangle the path their lives were on.
The twists and turns in THESE TANGLED THREADS are mind-blowing but wonderful just the same. Hold on tight! It is about to be one crazy ride! The story takes place between 1915 and 1924 and is told from three points of view. At first, I was a bit confused with that and the timelines, but once I dug into the story, it went very smoothly. Lorna is one of the best weavers around and she is commissioned to make a one-of-a-kind and breathtaking fabric design for Cornelia Vanderbilt's upcoming wedding. Lorna is walking around with a few huge secrets that she knows will destroy her and her career if they ever get out and they are eating her alive.
While reading THESE TANGLED THREADS the reader can tell just how much research Sarah had to do. I felt like I was right there in the room weaving away with Lorna. She is trying to teach Gentry, a teenager with a very low attention span, how to weave properly. Gentry is bored out of her mind and it shows in her work. That girl is going to drive the reader crazy just like she did to me. When Gentry disappears, she puts Lorna in a tight spot. Now Lorna needs to look for the mysterious weaver who could save her job and reputation. She also must deal with the relationships she left behind and the people she hurt and deceived. I'm not going to say anything else because I would hate to ruin this fabulous story for someone.
