Sisters in Paradise

Women's Fiction | Romance Western

Cusses like a taxi driver. Romantic soul. Loves animals. Talks country music. When mixed together, all segments form another lovely tale by Carolyn Brown. In SISTERS IN PARADISE, Carolyn Brown creates another cast of fabulous characters. Rich with personality and goodness to their very souls. Sounds a lot like the author herself. As a devoted fan, I can safely state that SISTERS IN PARADISE will keep you in stitches from start to finish. Get ready to meet a warm, close-knit family of girls--all named Mary.

Lots of sass, angst, memories, and thoughts of love mixed into this latest recipe for a heartwarming escapade about a rather large family group comprised mostly of females. All getting to the age where their biological clock is ticking louder. But so far, only two of the seven sisters have found Mr. Right. Aunt Bernie is working hard and doing her best as a matchmaker. That doesn’t seem to be so farfetched as a past bartender when she owned Bernie’s Bar in Spanish Fort. The family home for the mother and father of the seven is called Paradise, which was originally a brothel in this exceedingly small town.

Full of funny sayings, true Carolyn Brown, is how I fell in love with this author. For example, don’t hold your breath - since - you don’t look good in that shade of blue. Watch out since you will definitely find yourself chuckling aloud. All families have internal issues. In this family, they seem to advertise their strife. Luckily, there is an overload of folks with advice to parcel out. There doesn’t seem to be anything that can’t be solved with some Jameson or a bottle of beer.

My favorite series has always been the Honky Tonk Bars. After that, I made it a practice to never miss anything penned by Miss Carolyn Brown. SISTERS IN PARADISE is book number two in the series of the same name. Since there are seven sisters, there is a great promise of many more stories to follow. Crisp dialog with endearing family relationships is the trademark of this wonderfully romantic author. Once again, finding a favorite character amongst the fabulous cast was hard. An entertaining mix of craziness, chaos, charm, and compassion - that’s what you will find in SISTERS IN PARADISE by the inimitable Carolyn Brown.

SUMMARY

Sometimes the only way to find true happiness is to go back home.

Ophelia Simmons is back home at the Paradise—the former brothel where her mom raised her and six sisters—contemplating her next career move and dodging Great Aunt Bernie's matchmaking attempts. She is about to meet her match in Jake Brennan, the ruggedly handsome owner of a local winery where Aunt Bernie convinces her to take a job for the summer. At first Ophelia and Jake's personalities clash, but soon enough sparks start flying.

Meanwhile, older sister Tertia Simmons also returns home to look for a new job. Tertia never thought she'd work for, let alone fall for, Noah Sullivan—the boy who once taunted her when they were kids. But when he offers her the job of her dreams in his new café, Tertia finds herself torn between her head and her heart.

As the sisters navigate the ups and downs of love and career with the help of their outrageous great aunt and the rest of the close-knit family, they learn that love can be found in the most unexpected of places—including their own hometown.
