Romance Suspense

An heiress on the run from those who accused her of murder and the actual killers, Charlotte Court, finds herself a RUNAWAY. The last thing she wants to deal with is a former Navy SEAL trying to put himself back together. There is no way she can let him get close or his life could be in jeopardy.
Matt Sanders was mortally wounded and so sick of hospitals that he wants to hide away and heal in a small town at his buddy’s insistence. He isn’t expecting to find the most beautiful angelic woman who is determined to watch over him. Even when he realizes that Charlotte is hiding something – something dangerous to her safety and maybe his own. But a SEAL never runs from trouble and with his angel in danger he will stand and fight.
RUNAWAY is a fast-paced, suspenseful romance. The getting together of this couple is rather quick but as one who believes in love at first sight it felt realistic and well written. Charlotte might have grown up in a rich home, she wasn’t a snob but very down to earth. She is running from the man who set her up as the person responsible for her father’s death and the man who served as the hitman. They certainly didn’t expect her to have found a hero. Matt might be a wounded former SEAL but he is not one to back away from her or the danger that comes at her.
The danger and intrigue might be a bit too much for some readers, though it is all written in a clear and concise format that doesn’t glorify the events. I had a few problems with RUNAWAY – though nothing major just minor items –it got a bit repetitive when it came to Charlotte being a rich girl. She was born into a rich family, but her heart seemed to be more in art and Matt than anything. It also felt that she should have let Matt know what she was facing, just so he would have had a better defense setup.
That said, as always with any Lisa Marie Rice offering, I found RUNAWAY an action-packed, very good read.

SUMMARY

Navy Seal Matt Sanders is slowly putting himself together after being almost mortally wounded in battle. He's sick of hospitals, so a nowhere town in Baja, California, seems like the perfect place to lick his wounds. It's the last place he expects to find the most beautiful woman he's ever seen.

She's hurt, too--but haunted as she is, she watches over him like a guardian angel. But the feelings she inspires in him are anything but angelic.

Then Matt finds out that she's on the run, and keeping secrets that could get her killed--and he's having none of it. No one is threatening his angel. Not on his watch.

Heiress Charlotte Court is on the lam, wrongly accused of murder, and running from her father's killer. She's in no condition to let herself be tempted by a man--not even one as tough, gorgeous and compelling as Matt Sanders. He fascinates her, allures her, and she can't resist his pull--but she can't open her heart to him.

Then he'd be in the crosshairs, too.

It's a stalemate--until a deadly killer comes to town...
