Thriller Psychological

THE TEACHER by Freida McFadden is a pulse-pounding, riveting psychological thriller that keeps readers guessing until the very end. Caseham High is like every other American high school. It has its share of secrets, but who really is to blame when the teacher-student line is blurred and lives are destroyed?
Eve and Nate Bennett are a married couple who work at Caseham High. Eve is the Manolo Blahnik-wearing stoic math teacher, while Nate is the handsome, gregarious English teacher who charms all his students. From the outside, they look like the perfect couple, but all is not what it seems in this marriage.
Addie Severson is starting a new school year with the scandal from last year hanging over her head. A popular male teacher resigned after insinuations he was improper with Addie. Now, the whole school hates Addie, and she’ll have to tolerate incessant bullying from another student. When her English teacher, Nate Bennett, starts to show an interest in Addie’s poetry and well-being, Addie starts to feel some hope again. But Addie has secrets, and her best friend, Hudson, hasn’t talked to her since last year.
When lines are crossed and a marriage is in trouble, will Addie make the right choices, or will she bury all her secrets one last time?
THE TEACHER is a fast-paced, thrilling psychological foray into the lives of desperate, damaged people. Secret affairs, rumors, lies, manipulation, sex, betrayal, and power all come into play as a marriage deteriorates and the relationship between a teacher and a student is crossed. McFadden creates multi-faceted characters who come to life on the page. Addie’s teenage angst can be felt, and Nate’s manipulation is crafty and insidious. The pacing is superb, as each chapter reveals another important detail and revelation that maintains the suspense and elements of surprise. There are layers upon layers of the story to peel back, and the final twist is the icing on the cake. With a little bit of Stephen King's influence mixed with Edgar Allen Poe, the final act is expertly delivered with a little literary justice. THE TEACHER gets an A+ for twisty thrills and great suspense.

SUMMARY

A mind-bending, psychological thriller from the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Housemaid!

Something isn't right at Caseham High School. Last year, the school was rocked by scandal: a teacher was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Now, Addie is a pariah and will do anything to get through the year. More than that, she's desperate to keep the truth from coming to light.

Evie, a colleague of the disgraced teacher, is horrified to find Addie in her class. She knows the girl can't be trusted and soon realizes she's being watched—which is dangerous, considering she's hiding something from her husband.

But each has secrets about what happened last year. And someone in this school will do anything to keep them silent.
