FINALLY FOUND MY COWBOY is a lovely story that just happens to be part of a series, The Murphys of Meadow Valley. I mention this to say I loved FINALLY FOUND MY COWBOY and had missed the first book of the series, and it did not matter. FINALLY FOUND MY COWBOY stands perfectly fine all on its own.
FINALLY FOUND MY COWBOY centers on eldest brother Eli and a newcomer to the Murphy ranch. Beth Spence is recovering from an injury that could be career ending. Her recovery and rehab suffer from fear that her dreams of being a Radio City Rockette have slipped from her grasp. Eli and Beth begin with a rocky start. Eli has become rather reclusive since his wife’s passing. A freak accident trying to protect her horse from poachers. Even with alarms and precautions thieves passed the security. Eli has not been able to forgive his inability to save not only his wife but treasured horse.
Beth’s sister Delaney steps in with a plan on how to get her sister direct energy toward something useful. Get her out of her head, so to speak, and back to being resourceful and employed as Eli’s front desk person. The problem is Beth isn’t a huge fan of animals, especially anything as large as a horse. And Eli’s vet practice includes all sorts of pets.
FINALLY FOUND MY COWBOY is a joyous romp thanks to the crisp, sassy, fun filled dialog between the characters in this book. Each one has a definite personality, which just makes you like them more. A.J. Pine makes her folks engaging through their interaction and discussions. Recovering from an injury and from the loss of a dear one presents a challenge to even the strongest person. It takes time. And in FINALLY FOUND MY COWBOY we have front seats to an enjoyable battle of the wits for sure.
Dancer Beth Spence finally gets a shot at her dream—auditioning for the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes. But her audition concludes with a torn Achilles tendon and possibly the end of her dance career. When her sister, Delaney, flies her to Meadow Valley, California to recuperate, she is reluctant to go, but out of options. Beth has no idea that Delaney has set her up with a job managing widower Eli Murphy's veterinary clinic while staying in the guest house on his ranch. Beth and Eli's attraction is undeniable, but Beth has every intention of making a full recovery and heading back to New York. Eli has no intention of loving and losing again. Too bad their hearts have other plans.
