Romance Mafia
Dante Gallo is a mafioso. Straight up bad guy with very little to say about it. It is his life, and he doesn’t think he has a heart to worry about until he meets Simone Solomon. She is much too young for him and innocent. But the heart he didn’t know he had started to beat when he first sees her. Unfortunately, or maybe fortune was smiling down on him, she is in the back seat of the limousine he has just boosted.
Simone is young with her head in the clouds and wants to be a fashion designer but her life is controlled by her parents. Dante is the first man she has seen and fallen for. The attraction is immediate, but then so is the devastating truth that comes when she finds out how dangerous his world is.
Nine years pass and Simone has managed to break from her parents, become the woman she is meant to be, and face the truth. Dante might be in the mafia, but he certainly has the right to know she carried a secret all those years ago. Henry is a nine-year-old who deserves to know his father.
BLOODY HEART is a mafia, second-chance romance that will keep you flipping the pages to see exactly how Dante and Simone's second chance works out. In previous books in the Brutal Birthright series by Sophie Lark, it is mentioned several times that Dante’s heart had been broken and now we know who it was and how it happened.
Simone was a little irritating at first until you realize just how young she was and how much her parents overprotected her. Watching her grow up was extremely satisfying and when she finally returns home, she knows it is time to face the music. Dante's heart still belongs to Simone, but you can also understand that Dante was worried that something would happen again and Simone would leave again. Knowing she is a famous top model and has a life of her own gives doubts to what Dante could offer her in the ways of security. They see each other again when Dante and his team are responsible for providing security to Simone and her father at a gala. It was amazing to watch as Dante took charge and threw caution to the wind to rescue her from the enemy. From hot to cold to hot, love flows no matter how hard they try to deny it.
I always like it when a book shows family at their best and worst, and BLOODY HEART does this very well. In my opinion, I felt Simone’s family might be the worst whereas Dante’s mafia family turns out to be the best. I have enjoyed each book in the Brutal Birthright series and feel each one seems to get just that bit better.
SUMMARY
When you get a second chance, you don't wait for a third…
Simone Solomon lives in a gilded cage. She's been raised to wealth, privilege, and above all, obedience. But one night, on her way to another tedious gala in the back of a limousine, Simone is abducted by a mafioso who intended to steal a car, not a girl…and everything changes.
Dante Gallo looks like a beast and behaves like one, too—until he lays eyes on Simone in the rearview mirror and falls hard and fast for his accidental hostage. Their attraction is irresistible, even if it's completely wrong. They're willing to risk everything for each other, but with one disastrous move, they're split apart again.
After nine years of ignoring Simone's perfect face on billboards and magazines, Dante thinks he's finally moved on…but then he sees her in the flesh. He hasn't forgotten. Neither has she. And now, fate has granted them a chance to reconnect.
But Simone has a secret. A mistake she fears even a beast like Dante will never forgive her for.
Perhaps what fate has really given them is the chance to make each other's hearts bleed all over again.
