The storyline is realistic and though the “romance” of Teague and Callie is insta-lust, they also must work together and are not completely displeased with their future together. Callie felt a little too innocent for being raised in the family life, at least in the beginning--later she finds her backbone. Teague does not fit in with the hardened criminal that many in the family were portrayed to be; he seems like a good guy who wants to live a peaceful life. Previously published as THE MARRIAGE CONTRACT in 2016, DARK SUCCESSION is a well-written mob story with unique characters who manage to fit well within each other’s world. The violence is rather graphic at times, but this is a mob story, so you cannot expect anything else. Katee Robert also gives a different take on each family dynamic, introducing the different ways these men and women were raised and what is expected of them. A good read that will take you away to a dark, violent world but will leave you wanting more.
