Romance Contemporary

Sometimes being born into a family is a good thing and other times it leads to a DARK SUCCESSION that you don’t want. That is the fate of Teague O’Malley and his place in the dark underworld that includes the Sheridan family, the O’Malley’s and the Hallorans.

Callista Sheridan finds herself a pawn twice for her father’s greed. First, he tries to create an alliance with the Halloran family by marrying her to Brendan, a violent man who died as he lived. Next, it is Teague who the old man turns to, intent on shoring up his place in Boston’s Irish Mob.

Teague isn’t thrilled with the idea but when he meets Callie and sees the state she is in--having been traumatized by an encounter with Brendan--he vows to protect her. But will the dark secret she is hiding get them both killed? Because to keep the peace Teague must take Brendan’s killer to the Hallorans. An impossible task, as his death is Callie’s dark secret.

DARK SUCCESSION brings the mob world into graphic light with violence and anger, yet there is also love. The storyline is realistic and though the “romance” of Teague and Callie is insta-lust, they also must work together and are not completely displeased with their future together. Callie felt a little too innocent for being raised in the family life, at least in the beginning--later she finds her backbone. Teague does not fit in with the hardened criminal that many in the family were portrayed to be; he seems like a good guy who wants to live a peaceful life. Read DARK SUCCESSION to see how well that works out for him.

Previously published as THE MARRIAGE CONTRACT in 2016, DARK SUCCESSION is a well-written mob story with unique characters who manage to fit well within each other’s world. The violence is rather graphic at times, but this is a mob story, so you cannot expect anything else. Katee Robert also gives a different take on each family dynamic, introducing the different ways these men and women were raised and what is expected of them. A good read that will take you away to a dark, violent world but will leave you wanting more.

SUMMARY

The New York Times bestselling author of Radiant Sin delivers a smoking hot series about the O'Malley family—wealthy, powerful, dangerous and seething with scandal.

Teague O'Malley hates everything associated with his family's name. And when his father orders him to marry Callista Sheridan to create a "business" alliance, Teague's ready to cut ties once and for all. But then Teague actually meets Callista, sees the bruises on her neck and the trauma in her eyes and vows he will do everything in his power to avenge her.

Everyone knows the O'Malleys are dangerous. But Callie wasn't prepared for his brand of lethal grace and coiled power. His slightest touch scorches through her. But the closer they get, the more trouble they're in. Because Callie's keeping a dark secret—and what Teague doesn't know could get him killed.
