Lee Hollis brings readers another installment in the Maya and Sandra Mysteryseries. This time, they are acting as chaperones for the SoPo High seniors as they go on a trip to the capital. Alongside their son and daughter, they will have to manage a group of unruly high schoolers as well as solve a murder.
Sandra’s soon-to-be-ex-husband, Senator Stephan Wallage, has an intern who gets involved in a very sticky situation. To avoid a scandal, he asks Maya and Sandra to help but the FBI don’t appreciate them sticking their noses in their case, so things do get quite hairy in this novel.
I find it interesting that the setting and overall concept of this are quite simple. It’s about true amateurs who don’t seem like the type to solve murders. However, Maya and Sandra do make quite the team when they decide to work together.
I enjoyed the beginning of this book very much. It captured my interest immediately and the free-flowing writing made the rest of the story go by in a flash. I do notice a difference in writing style and that might be due to the author trying out different things. All in all, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a more laid-back mystery and who likes a school setting. MURDER ON THE CLASS TRIP definitely gets a high score from me!
