Mystery Cozy | Mystery Woman Sleuth

Shiloh Bellamy is determined to make her half of the family farm a success once again. So far it hasn’t been an easy feat to turn the rundown farm into an organic masterpiece, but it’s well on its way. Shiloh is hosting Farm Daze to introduce the community to the new and improved Bellamy Farm. With fun fall activities and delicious, homemade organic treats, the event is surely going to be a roaring success. The farm is packed with families enjoying the events, but it takes a deadly turn when the interim manager of the Farmer’s Market, Minnie Devani, is found murdered in her field. As new information comes to light about Minnie’s true identity, there are now more questions than answers. Shiloh is determined to track down the killer and get the heat off the police department’s number one suspect, her best friend Kristy, and restore Bellamy Farm’s reputation.

Pretty much anything Amanda Flower writes, I love, and this new series is no exception. She has a way of putting you right there with the characters and their surroundings. You empathize with all the characters, even the ones you really don’t want to. This leads to some interesting plot twists and turns you never see coming.

I also love the various subplots within this series. Not only is Shiloh putting her life on the line to save her best friend, but her organic farm is nothing but weeds right now. Seeing the hard work, sweat, and frustration in Shiloh’s character makes me love her more. She has also discovered her new neighbor, and the other half of Bellamy Farms, is also planning on having an organic farm, so there is some underlying tension that I can’t wait to see play out. Maybe in book three we’ll see if Shiloh gets any closer to tracking down the secret treasure that her grandmother hinted at in a series of letters.
PUT OUT TO PASTURE is another perfect cozy from Amanda Flower to curl up with. This is book two in the Farm to Table Mysteries, and it can be read as a standalone, but I would recommend reading book one, FARM TO TROUBLE, to get the full back story.

SUMMARY

Shiloh Bellamy has saved her family's farm from financial ruin—but now what? She's barely scraping by on the farm's new organic business model and the fall festival she organized to drum up business comes to a screeching halt when the body of a prominent townswoman is discovered underneath a scarecrow in a nearby field. Worst of all, the evidence points to Shiloh's childhood best friend, Kristy, as the prime suspect.

Between cooking up delicious treats made with her farm's produce, convincing her cantankerous father to let her do things her own way, and dealing with a newcomer in town who could be serious competition for her customers, Shiloh doesn't have time to wade into a murder investigation. But with a killer on the loose and suspicious activity circling closer and closer to Shiloh and the people she loves, she realizes there's nothing to do but roll up her sleeves and get down to the dirty work of finding the killer and clearing Kristy's name once and for all.
