The last thing Lucy Merritt wants to deal with is the world she left behind. After all, she didn't owe the CIA anything else as they had already taken away her parents. Now she is back, and finds herself with a PROTECTOR who believes she is helpless. Please! She was raised by CIA parents. PROTECTOR is a lightly rewritten and updated version of a previously published book entitled DARKNESS AT DAWN.
Captain Mike Shaker is a hard-living, take chances kind of guy, and when tasked to stop a deadly virus he doesn't hesitate. Until he finds out his partner is the most gorgeous woman he has ever seen and she is going to be a big part of the mission. In fact, his job will be as the PROTECTOR while she is the brains.
The mission begins in the small Himalayan kingdom of Nhala, where Lucy's parents died. With a new "fiance" by her side, she goes undercover to stop the deadly forces that will take out more people if they don't find a way to stop the evil from spreading.
PROTECTOR is an amazing and fast-paced read that you can't put down. Mike and Lucy get off to a shaky start but learn to deal with one another very quickly. Lucy knows the world they are about to enter as well as the people. Even the princess and the King were friends to the child she was. Mike is a total PROTECTOR in every way and has no idea how to stop it. He realizes that, although Lucy has some problems with such things as airplanes, and a few other traumas from life, she is a tough woman, with a lightning-quick brain and determination to do what has to be done. When it comes down to it - she too is a PROTECTOR who will go to any length to protect others - even endanger her own life. Though it is touch and go, Mike and Lucy get their much deserved HEA!
Hard missions and high altitudes, that’s what Captain Mike Shaker, 10th Mountain Division, US Army, is all about. He never hesitates, not even when tasked with stopping a deadly virus from exploding in the Himalayas. At least, not until he finds out he’s going in with a single partner—Lucy Merritt. A woman. Soft. Super-feminine. No military background, no combat training, armed with just a PhD in art history. Worst of all, she’s gorgeous. Another word for ‘deadly distraction.’
Then Mike finds out that Lucy isn’t a hindrance to the mission. She is the mission. He’s just the muscle.
Lucy Merritt has made a point of creating a life for herself that’s safe, unadventurous. She’s already paid her dues to the CIA, having lost both her CIA operative parents in Nhala, a small Himalayan kingdom, long ago. In her book, they’ve taken quite enough from her already.
But they tell her that her country needs her. That she’s the only one who can go in to Nhala undercover, with the dour but undeniably sexy Captain Mike at her side, posing as her fiancé. It’s a disaster waiting to happen. She’s a strong, independent woman, and here she is, melting when a tough, sexy warrior smolders at her. She can’t resist Mike’s protective tenderness, and the blaze of attraction between them—though giving into it could cost her everything.
Then all hell breaks loose in Nhala, and Mike and Lucy will need all their passion and power just to survive…because it’s not just their own lives at stake.
