Jessie Mercado - an army vet, former bodyguard and now P.I. - is offered what should be a simple missing person case. One twist after another will offer her a KILLER VIEW to the truth, if she survives the encounters she faces.
Mamertine Consulting, is a business that prepares the rich and famous for their time behind bars. They take care of the guilty person's finances, family, properties - anything that is needed, and sometimes things that are on the wrong side of the law. Owen Blake's partner is missing and, while trying to find him, Owen finds out that he just might not have known his partner all that well. And not knowing him just might get him and his hired P.I. killed.
KILLER VIEW is Roy Johansen's foray into the world of Kendra Michaels, the former blind consultant who gets Jessie involved in Mamertine. Jessie, being a rough and tumble type, refuses to ask for help from a woman.
What should have been simple, turns out to be much more complex. Fearing for her father and her friends, Jessie tries to handle everything on her own. But, in this case, she isn't about to go it alone. Brice, the famous action hero star, and Delilah Winters, plan to back Jessie up - no matter what it takes.
The pace of KILLER VIEW is fast. Just when you think Jessie has found an answer, another dozen questions come up. At first I was unsure of my feelings for her, as I found her to be a bit abrasive and having an "I don't need anyone's help" vibe about her. But, the fact that Brice, Kendra, and Dee love her makes you look deeper and realize that she would take a bullet for those she loves. Even if she wants to shoot them herself for some of the things they pull on her - like sending four huge bodyguards to her door with minimal instructions and without warning.
Kendra, Brice, and Dee all play pivotal parts in KILLER VIEW as supporting cast, but this book is author Roy Johansen's look at this intriguing woman - Jessie Mercado. He brought her to life in such a way that readers might envy her, sympathize with her, and maybe want to be her. Also, the things one learns reading fiction is amazing - is there such a thing as incarceration consultants? The answer is yes. I googled them.
KILLER VIEW is filled with action, drama, danger, intrigue. Readers are always left wondering what twist will be around the next corner. I believe the fact that there is more than one bad guy - and finding out who they all are - will surprise you! Talent certainly runs deep in the Johansen family!
