Mystery Culinary | Mystery Cozy

The second book in the Trouble in Paradise Cozy Mystery series is a whole lot of fun!  Transplanted New Yorker Plum Lockhart now enjoys her days on the Caribbean island of Paraiso where she is building her new career in managing and renting villas.  The island is paradise, but when the murder of a young publishing heiress brings a cloud of suspicion over the island, Plum knows she needs to work fast to find the killer in SOMETHING’S GUAVA GIVE.

Paraiso attracts many celebrities and when entitled publishing heiress Arielle Waldron vacations with friends, she also brings her bad habits to the island.  After she is kicked out of the La Frutas Resort for stealing, Arielle heads to eccentric billionaire Dieter Friedrich’s compound where the party never dies.  Unfortunately, Arielle does die and her body is found on the beach the next morning.  Plum’s former colleague from New York, Gerald, arrives on the island and enlists Plum to help investigate the young woman’s death.  Along with Gerald and the handsome Director of Security, Juan Kevin Munoz, Plum embarks on a mission to uncover the truth.  Along the way, she crosses paths with an aging rock star, feuding billionaires, opportunistic celebrities, a shady photographer, a sleazy bartender, and a double crosser.  The stakes are high, but Plum is persistent and she will keep investigating until she finds the killer hiding in her paradise.

SOMETHING’S GUAVA GIVE is high-energy with fun characters, a beautiful setting, and witty dialogue.  It is a standout in the cozy mystery field.  The story flows smoothly and the characters are smart and entertaining.  There are plenty of funny moments and Plum is spot on with her observations of life and people.  Gerald is her drama loving social sidekick who provides humor, while Juan Kevin is a great cook and a good match as Plum’s love interest.  This is a thoroughly enjoyable mystery and just a whole lot of fun to read.  Make sure to take a trip to Paraiso and enjoy the island life while solving the mystery in SOMETHING’S GUAVA GIVE.

SUMMARY

Nothing ruins an ocean view like a body on the beach!

Plum Lockhart went out on a limb when she ditched her corporate job in New York City and moved to the Caribbean island of Paraiso. Now the head of her own villa broker agency, Plum spends her days chasing down clients and lounging on white sand beaches.

But the sweet life turns sour when a publishing heiress is found dead at the mansion of an eccentric tycoon, Dieter Friedrich. Even worse, Plum's old colleague cashes in a favor and asks her to investigate. It looks like she'll need to fit a murder case into her already jam-packed schedule!

Friedrich is known for his shady dealings, but he's not the only bad apple on the island—Plum will have to contend with a scheming millionaire, a sleazy rockstar, and devious B-list celebrities. And joining Plum once again is Juan Kevin Munoz, the distractingly gorgeous Director of Security. Despite the sparks between them, they'll need to stay focused on the case—there's a murderer hot on their heels!
