It is Claray MacFarlane’s wedding day and she’s debating the merits of leaping to her death. With her uncle forcing her to marry a man just so he can gain MacFarlane, Claray doesn’t see how she’s going to escape the horrors she knows await her if she gets married. When she’s abducted on the way to the church, Claray sees it as God’s answer to her prayers.
Known throughout the Highlands as the Wolf, Bryson MacDonald has been living under a different name to protect him from the people responsible for the death of most of his clan when he was a child. He also happens to be Claray’s betrothed. Though Bryson wants to reclaim his home and birthright before he reveals himself to Claray, the more he gets to know his soon-to-be bride, the more he realizes he’ll do anything to protect her.
I feel tricked by Lynsay Sands! Anyone who’s been as obsessed with her Highland Bride series as I have been had probably been anticipating that HIGHLAND WOLF would be about the last Buchanan brother but she pulled a fast one and gave us a whole new, almost, hero. With Bryson MacDonald, Sands takes us back to the first book in the series and re-introduces us to Ross and Annabel’s nephew. I can’t say I’m upset at all about being denied a Buchanan. Bryson, with his gruff exterior, would fit right in with them. I’m sure he’ll be a favorite for many readers. Claray is a delightful character. With her penchant for collecting lost and injured animals, she’s perfect for Bryson, as he’s a bit lost and injured himself.
With HIGHLAND WOLF, Sands delivers another laugh-out-loud romance mystery that will have readers playing detective in order to figure out what happened to Bryson’s clan. Her books are always an enthralling read and I can’t wait to see what Sands has in store for us next.
