One phone call. That's all it took to change the lives of Dinah Hershberger, her family, and that of Jacob Miller. The call came from, Anna, Jacob's sister who had left the their Amish community. She had all but vanished, but now she wanted Dinah to come meet her without telling Jacob. When they do meet, Anna hands her Isaac, her infant son, and she instructs Dinah to give him to Jacob to raise. Fearing what might happen if she doesn't take Isaac, the two of them return home. It has fallen on Dinah to introduce Isaac to his uncle.
What follows is a beautiful story about the power of family, whether it is the one you are born into or the one you make. Even though Dinah and Jacob are well defined strong characters, coming to terms with their new situation presents the ultimate test. Dinah's family steps up to help, but uncertainty prevails. Problems arise quickly and can go from bad to worse quickly if not handled properly. Can they keep Isaac safe?
I found A HARVEST OF LOVE by Marta Perry to be a unique and moving story that is populated with characters who have deep emotions and wisdom and who are not afraid to love. Highly recommended.
