One man, three daughters-each from a different woman, his mother, and a famous vineyard all come together in this beautifully told story. The storyline of THE INHERITANCE by JoAnn Ross is unique as the girls don't know about each other until after their father has died. It is imperative that they all come together at the vineyard for the reading of the will. It is a will with surprising conditions and requests. Once they are all together, yet another story separate from the will is revealed. Can this unconventional family become just that--a family?
What I found to be intriguing is that we learn the most about the women's father, Jackson Swann, after his death. His legacy is memorable because of the results it brings about. Complex relationships are sorted through and some unanswered questions are answered. There are surprises and unexpected romances. JoAnn Ross has constructed a narrative that provides an in-depth look into a group of strangers who unexpectedly learn that they are so much more than that. A multi-layered plot and with a cast of interesting characters make reading THE INHERITANCE a great reading experience. Highly recommended.
With a dramatic wartime love story woven through, JoAnn Ross's brilliant new novel is a gorgeous generational saga about the rivalry, history and loyalty that bond sisters together
