Bombshell

Romance Historical

Sesily’s used to causing trouble and turning heads in society. She’s been part of scandals before. She’s not worried about causing damage to her reputation because she doesn’t believe in marriage. It doesn’t matter that her four sisters are all happily married and having babies. Marriage isn’t for her.

Plus this way, she has the freedom she desires. Her lack of fortune doesn’t hurt either. Together with her three closest friends, Sesily works to smash the patriarchy and rid society of the worst sort of men. They’re trying to take down one man in particular. He’s proving to be difficult and dangerous.

Sesily keeps running into danger and her friend Caleb keeps rescuing her. Sesily doesn’t need to be rescued, although the kisses are quite nice. Sesily also knows that Caleb is hiding more than he’s sharing. Could his secrets get them both into major trouble?

Readers of Sarah MacLean’s novels have been introduced to Sesily prior to this book. Sesily is one of the Soiled S sisters who first made their appearance in The Rogue Not Taken. While this book is the start of the new Hell's Belles series, there are several Easter Eggs to previous books and several favorite characters do appear. In BOMBSHELL, this feisty sassy woman shines. She doesn’t need Caleb to rescue her. She can rescue herself, and him too, for that matter. The banter between the two main characters is delightful. The friendship between the four women will make readers eager for the next book in the series. If you read historical romance, Sarah MacLean’s books are a must-read.

SUMMARY

New York Times bestselling author Sarah MacLean returns with a blazingly sexy, unapologetically feminist new series, Hell’s Belles, beginning with a bold, bombshell of a heroine, able to dispose of a scoundrel—or seduce one—in a single night.

After years of living as London’s brightest scandal, Lady Sesily Talbot has embraced the reputation and the freedom that comes with the title. No one looks twice when she lures a gentleman into the dark gardens beyond a Mayfair ballroom…and no one realizes those trysts are not what they seem.

No one, that is, but Caleb Calhoun, who has spent years trying not to notice his best friend’s beautiful, brash, brilliant sister. If you ask him, he’s been a saint about it, considering the way she looks at him…and the way she talks to him…and the way she’d felt in his arms during their one ill-advised kiss.

Except someone has to keep Sesily from tumbling into trouble during her dangerous late-night escapades, and maybe close proximity is exactly what Caleb needs to get this infuriating, outrageous woman out of his system. But now Caleb is the one in trouble, because he’s fast realizing that Sesily isn’t for forgetting…she’s forever. And forever isn’t something he can risk.
