Persephone Dimitriou is forced to flee her home or cave into her mother's plans. Unfortunately, her mother pulls a fast one and announces her engagement to Zeus. The last thing Persephone wants is to get involved with the NEON GODS that rule their world and especially not one with more than one dead wife.
In the lower world, there reside people who are free of the city. It had at one time been the domain of Hades, but he no longer exists. Persephone had always wondered how the 13 who ruled could be 13 when there were only 12 remaining. Something about the mythical man had Persephone secretly wondering about the man who once was.
When Persephone manages to escape Zeus and the guards sent to watch over her, she barely gets across the River Styx. It is a barrier separating the sparkling city from the lower one and something she had to cross on her own, Once there, she quite literally falls into the arms of the man she thought didn't exist. He's not a myth - he is real and all she has to do is stay with him, doing whatever he wants and she will be free of Zeus. But as each day with Hades goes by, Persephone and Hades find they aren't quenching their desire for one another at all, it is all getting stronger.
NEON GODS is a modern-day look at the lives of those gods with a number of twists that are unexpected and totally fun! Believe me, you will never look at or think of Greek mythology or the Gods of Olympus the same ever again. This is a very modern, very sensual look at a world that has the mythological beings ruling the ultra-modern, glitzy city and think they ruled the world. As we get into the story we find not everyone follows their lead.
Hades and Persephone have modern views on life and she wanted to leave the highfalutin world she was born into and live her own life. Hades had been banished and the reason - well you will have to read NEON GODS to get the exact reason, but suffice it to say it was a bad mistake by Zeus. I did enjoy the surprise that he felt every time he realized that Persephone trusted him and soon loved him. You will have to read about his past to understand and you will fall for him too.
NEON GODS is a fun, steamy, entertaining read with all the modern technology, which is something that takes a bit of getting used too, because - well - the gods are myths from ancient times. NEON GODS will give you an amazing escape and leave you wanting more of this intriguing world.
SUMMARY
Society darling Persephone Dimitriou wants nothing to do with her mother's ambitions. She's biding her time until she's able to leave the ultra-modern city of Olympus and start her doctorate degree. The one thing she never planned on? Her mother ambushing her with an engagement to Zeus—a man with more than a few dead wives in his past. Persephone will do anything to escape that fate...even flee the sparkling upper city and make a devil's bargain with a man she once believed was a myth.
Hades has spent his life in the shadows, and he has no intention of stepping into the light. Not even for the woman who flees into his territory as if the very hounds of hell are on her heels. But when he finds that Persephone can offer a little slice of the revenge he's spent his entire life craving? It's all the excuse he needs to agree to help her—for a price. She'll be his for the summer, and then he'll see her safely out of Olympus and away from her mother and Zeus.
Hades and Persephone's deal might seem simple enough, but they both quickly realize it's anything but. With every breathless night spent with Hades, Persephone wonders at her ability to leave him behind. And Hades? Now that he has a taste for Persephone, he's willing to go to war with Olympus itself to keep her...
