Imagine waking up on a deserted beach, the mind blank and empty of identity, and of events both recent and long distant. Imagine getting a feeling to go back home, to Maine in hopes that the memories will recover, and imagine finding out very ugly truths that could mean a difference between life and death, especially when trust is on the line. That is the situation that happened to Jack Smith, a young man who keeps a very closed profile to people he cares about. But what will happen when he returns to Maine and begins to suspect something is off?
Lily is Jack's girlfriend, a woman with secrets of her own and someone who is completely devoted to Jack and who will do whatever she can to find him. Yet the more she digs into Jack's life, the more it seems as if Jack Smith had kept secrets, terrible secrets from her eyes and ears and the more she becomes determined to find out what they are.
Six years ago, Maya Scott's stepbrother Asher Bennett has disappeared into the blue, plunging the young woman into depression. However, at long last, Asher has resurfaced with amnesia, having no idea why he left Maya in the first place, or why he is estranged from her in the first place. Maya, overjoyed, has begun making plans into finding out the answers from Asher Bennett, no matter the ultimate cost.
YOU WILL REMEMBER ME by Hannah Mary McKinnon has definitely the power and talent to render the reader completely stunned and speechless by the sheer beauty of the planning, the plot and the execution of this tale. Personally the best part of the story, at least for me, is Maya who is written skillfully and who definitely keeps the audience on tiptoes throughout the novel.
Plot-wise, there is no stone unturned in YOU WILL REMEMBER ME by Hannah Mary McKinnon because when I say Hannah Mary McKinnon ties up loose ends of plots, she does, although I do wish that in future thriller novels perhaps an easter egg or two of former characters and how they are doing?
Having said that, if you are in the mood for a slow-burn thriller that will keep you in thrall or if you are missing out on her previous novels, THE NEIGHBORS, HER SECRET SON and SISTER DEAR, then YOU WILL REMEMBER ME by Hannah Mary McKinnon is a guarantee to take you far away into a world of surprise and shock.
