Thriller Police Procedural | Mystery Police Procedural

ONE DAY YOU’LL BURN, Joseph Schneider's debut novel, is an unforgettable read! This is a thriller that sets a storyline of the most bizarre crime you could ever read. In the beginning, it catches your attention and you will find it hard to put down. Schneider has a gift of creating a twisted mystery that will put him up there with Stephen King.

Detective Tully Jarsdel is not like the other cops he works with. He uses a different way of thinking that is not typical for the job. However, he gets it done. His latest case is a body burned so badly that finding out who is the victim is a challenge. This is not just any burning of a body, but is so unique in how it was done, that it left a mystery for how in itself.

Jarsdel and his partner, Morales who at times seem to not agree on things, learn to work together with respect to find who is behind this hideous crime before there are any more bodies. They hit the streets of LA trying to get information that may lead to who, where, and why someone had it out for the victim to this degree.

Jarsdel is a different kind of detective as he studies history in school with plans of being a professor. His education and switch in careers don't sit well with the department, and he's looked at as someone that most of the officers look down upon, leaving Jarsdel determined to prove himself as a detective.

This is definitely a novel to pick up if you love suspense and you are looking for an intriguing read. ONE DAY YOU’LL BURN had me hooked at the beginning--I found it hard to forget. Joseph Schneider has a great start with the first of Jarsdel’s mysteries with hopefully many more to follow.

SUMMARY

Detective Tully Jarsdel may not be a typical LAPD cop—but he's the only one who can solve this case

A body so badly burned that it could be mistaken for a movie prop... except for the smell. That's not something the LAPD finds lying on the street every day. And when Detective Tully Jarsdel is called to the scene, it's clear to him that something about the placement of the corpse is intentional, even ritualistic. Jarsdel's former career in academia seems to finally be coming in handy, rather than serving merely as material for jokes from his partner, Morales.

But nothing Jarsdel learned in school can prepare him for the deep evil behind this case, which appears to be as hopeless as it is violent. As Jarsdel and Morales attempt to settle their differences and uncover the motive behind the horrendous crime, they find themselves dragged into the underbelly of a city notorious for chewing up and spitting out anyone dumb enough to turn their back on survival.

One Day You'll Burn is a shimmering debut that captures the glitz and squalor of LA while introducing an unforgettable detective readers will rank among the best in the genre.
