Natalya Shonski is a warrior. Part Carpathian, part human and part mage, she's of the DragonSeeker Clan and has fought vampires her entire adult life. While using her powers as a mage to help her, she also uses her other form - - that of a tiger.
Vikirnoff Von Shrieder is a Carpathian male, right on the edge of losing himself to the lure of becoming a vampire -- the species he's hunted and killed for thousands of years. He's been chasing Natalya from continent to continent, drawn to her. When he gets near enough, his world changes. He begins to see in colors again and to feel emotions, things he's been denied for most of his years on earth. The signs mean Natalya is his lifemate and he won't let her get away this time.
However, Natalya is not about to give up her calling; she's killed vampires too long to change her ways now. Then they discover her stepfather, the most powerful, evil mage known, is not dead as everyone thought. He's alive and determined to get to Natalya and use her powers to recover a book of secrets hidden to everyone, which will make him too powerful to be stopped. Natalya and Vikirnoff must work together to find the book and keep it safe until it can be destroyed to keep the world safe for Carpathians and humans alike.
DARK DEMON was, as expected, a total immersion into the Carpathian world. From page one, I was lost in the personalities and mind sets of these great characters. The DragonSeeker clan is a great addition to the continuing storyline and I'm happy to see Feehan is expanding on them. Super location -- the Carpathian Mountains -- great characters and a fantastic, yet believable, storyline makes this one of Feehan's best works to date. I enjoyed it immensely and can't wait for the next installment. A great read!
For as long as she can remember, Natalya has been fighting
demons: first in the form of childhood nightmares, then
later, immortal creatures that kill and prey on the
innocent-including her own twin brother. Whether Carpathian
or vampire, she slays those who murder by night, and has no
equal-until she is seduced by the very thing she considers
her enemy...
A Carpathian who has seen nearly everything in his endless
existence, Vikirnoff doesn't think he can be surprised
anymore-until he faces a woman who rivals him as a vampire
hunter. A formidable and gifted warrior in her own right,
Natalya has a nature that is strangely familiar-yet alien-
to his own. Who is this mysterious female who fears no one-
not even him? Natalya could be the key to the survival of
the Carpathians, but all Vikirnoff is certain of is that
she is the key to his heart and soul...
