THE COLOR OF LOVE

Let’s get something off my chest right at the start. I have been a huge fan of Sharon Sala for longer than I would like to admit. I knew Sharon Sala when she wrote under the name Dinah McCall. Not sure when that pseudonym ended but when I discovered Sharon Sala I was delighted. To be candid the stories by Sharon Sala are some of my favorite and her treatment of crime and mystery especially in small towns is wondrous. Her characters are truly unforgettable. After all how can you ever forget someone called Peanut Butterman. If you want to know his real name then you can start any time in the Blessings Georgia series.

THE COLOR OF LOVE deals with a tough subject that unfortunately exists all over the world. Even in a small town like Blessings where everyone truly knows each other and for many, the town represents their family. At this point, I’ve read each of the Blessings Georgia books and have reviewed a few. But I keep going back for more and after you’ve read THE COLOR OF LOVE you will truly understand why.

Much of THE COLOR OF LOVE centers on Peanut and the love of his life Ruby Dye. Peanut has been excruciatingly slow in letting Ruby know he is interested in more than just being her friend. In fact, Ruby didn’t realize that Peanut was actually her secret admirer. But once Ruby’s ex Jarrod comes to town the sense of security and safety is questionable for Ruby.

Jarrod is now safely incarcerated but it seems as if his reach is far.

So while Ruby, Peanut and all the townsfolk in Blessings seem to be getting on with their lives Sharon Sala every once in a while pipes in with a reminder that there is a small lapse between normal and chaos. We are only one step away from events that could change everything.

You might be tempted to say the only luck Ruby has is bad luck. Surely the tide is going to have to change in her favor. Well, suffice it to say Ruby isn’t one to sit back bemoaning her fate. Ruby is a take charge kind of gal who isn’t afraid to take chances after all she does change her hair color twice a year.

THE COLOR OF LOVE is an absolute joy to read even with the random intrusion of angst. The characters of Blessings color this story with random acts of kindness, joy, friendship, and love.

SUMMARY

He might be winning her heart before she even knows who he is... Welcome to Blessings, Georgia, the small town with a big heart! Anyone from a small town can tell you that gossip never stays quiet for long. The biggest news lately is Ruby Dye: she's been receiving gifts from a secret admirer. But Ruby isn't sure she can trust this newfound happiness. Nobody knows the dark secrets she keeps about her life before she arrived in Blessings. Is this the beginning of a would-be romance, or is she the target of something more sinister? Everyone admires Ruby and her determination to do the right thing, especially local lawyer "Peanut" Butterman. He's finally ready to tell her how he feels. But when trouble arrives on Ruby's doorstep and their little town is threatened, Peanut may have to prove himself in ways he never imagined.
