Romance Historical

What could be better than a Christmas story? Well, how about three done to perfection by some really wonderful authors? That's exactly what you get in THE COWBOY WHO SAVED CHRISTMAS, the new holiday collection from Jodi Thomas, Sharla Lovelace, and Scarlett Dunn.

The first story, "Father Goose,"  is by Jodi Thomas. That should already signal that it will delight all your senses. What could be better than a wagon trip across dubious territory with a ragtag team of traveling partners? Trapper is the leader of this gang. Carolina is the needed companion. And last but certainly not least are five little girls ranging in age from 4 to 13. Trapper can’t seem to get their names straight; candidly it’s the entire female thing that has this military guy in a tizzy. So he labels them one to five in order of their ages. This is a first glimpse at what continues to be an absolute joy to read even when some harsh realities intrude on this perfect scenario. The seven become a family of sorts. The girls are traveling to Dallas to their father, the colonel. Then Trapper and Carolina will go their own way. That’s the plan. The joy is in reading how Jodi Thomas brings to life some great characters that make you smile and laugh out loud. See a perfect holiday story and fall in love with one to five.

The second story, "Mistletoe Promise," is about young love. Complete with a tangled mess of life and commitment, this story by Sharla Lovelace is tender, heartwarming, and sassy. Josie, the leading lady, captures your attention from the get-go and holds on for the duration. Her young man, Ben, seems to disappear from the picture for a while but he maintained residence in her heart and mind. Both of their lives deal with love and disappointment but you can’t help rooting for them to find each other once more. True love is tough enough to last through a few roadblocks and challenges. Shala Lovelace instilled her characters with honesty, wit, kindness, and grit. "Mistletoe Promise" is a wonderful addition to this holiday collection.

"Christmas Road" by Scarlett Dunn is the last segment of this book. All of these stories will leave you with a huge grin in your face, but "Christmas Road" is guaranteed to make you laugh out loud. "Christmas Road" is about traveling a long path of life and follows the tragedy of yellow fever. Ranches and families being lost. One young soldier, Clint, returns home to find his entire family wiped out by the fever. He finds his mother’s bible with a message to him. His mother hoped he would find his way home to their ranch. Now Clint has to honor her last wish and find the woman who nursed her through the illness. Having little to go on, he felt this was a way to make up for being away all these years. He was done with traveling and war. First things first. Find his mother’s caretaker, Amelia, and make sure all is well with her. Life is funny like that. When you least expect to find joy, well, there it is. Just in time for the holidays. Great story, wonderful characters, and the best finishing touch on a grand holiday

THE COWBOY WHO SAVED CHRISTMAS shows that in actuality, it was love, trust, and faith that savedChristmas, but cowboys had an important role in the holiday miracles and lots of help from their eventual love interests and the interesting side characters they meet along the way. These are three dynamic stories told by three exquisite authors. Jodi Thomas is a force to reckon with, and she is in great company with Sharla Lovelace and Scarlett Dunn.

SUMMARY

In these Texas-set stories of romance and adventure, the Civil War is over, Christmas is coming—and it’s time for three rugged fighters to become lovers . . .

FATHER GOOSE
New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Jodi Thomas
Dispirited by war, when Trapper Morgan accepts a job hauling five little rich girls to Dallas, all he cares about is the money. He doesn’t expect they’ll awaken his spirit—or that their intriguing nursemaid, Carolina, will awaken his heart. And when danger strikes as Christmas Eve nears, he definitely doesn’t expect Carolina and the girls to risk their lives—for him . . .

THE MISTLETOE PROMISE * Sharla Lovelace
A catastrophic storm, an ailing herd, and a failing cattle ranch have left Texas rancher Josie Bancroft in danger of losing everything her father worked for. Still, she’d rather die than merge with her neighbor rancher Benjamin Mason, the man who broke her heart years ago, on Christmas Eve. As old sparks fly and secrets are revealed, however, Ben is determined to help Josie—and prove that this time around can be different. That the misunderstandings of Christmas past need not define their future . . .

CHRISTMAS ROAD * Scarlett Dunn
Yellow Fever has hit Clint Mitchum’s Texas hometown and taken his father and siblings, leaving Clint ever more cynical. Racing homeward to be by his mother’s side, Clint finds only a note from her, asking that he help her caregiver, a young woman named Amelia. Assuming his mother has passed, in his grief Clint ventures out to search for Amelia—and finds the best of gifts—just in time for Christmas . . .
