Leanna Ryan has finally taken the steps to take her life back and to follow her dream. She has a chance to take her master woodworking ability to a place she has always dreamed of living: Wyoming, the place in books that got her through a traumatic event in high school that could lead her to an amazing life and perhaps, the ability to trust and love. Little does she know, she is heading for a SILVER CREEK FIRE--where danger and intrigue mix in with family and romance.
Logan Anderson had thought his heart was frozen after losing his wife and newborn daughter, but it slowly opens with the arrival of Lea to the Wild Goose Ranch for the remodeling project he had planned for years. He never could have imagined the magic Lea could work with wood would lead to the renewal of not just his dreams but those of his friends and family.
SILVER CREEK FIRE is a well written, deeply thoughtful look at not just a romance between two hurting people but also at projects that could heal a hurting world. The trauma Lea suffered in school was a horrifying look at what can, and sadly, does happen when bullying is not stopped. What Logan suffered was also terrible, an accident that happens all too often in the streets. Both things can and do cause people to close up and it takes a strong will to get over it and move on. Lea and Logan do just that and together as they face more dangers that make them realize what they could miss if they don't grab life with both hands.
That said SILVER CREEK FIRE was an eyeopener when it comes to city people getting a good look at the dangers and fun of ranch life. Simple accidents can lead to long term injuries that have a stubborn rancher depending on someone for the little things he is used to doing on his own. Dances and get-togethers planned to celebrate being alive and working together to make life better for those around you.
I would say the only complaint I had with this amazing book was that at times it dragged and felt a little preachy. It was wonderful to see what others are doing to help the world become more sustainable but there were times when I wanted to see a bit more action and less talk.
If you want to watch a couple who deserve love find it, understand life on a ranch, and see the world through "let's be more careful with the world" eyes, then you need to get your hands on SILVER CREEK FIRE.
