Attack of the Not-So-Virtual Monsters

Childrens

Bex and Charlie are at it again. They have been playing the new game Monsters Unleased. This is a very popular game, you go around town and look for the monsters and zap them into your phone. Bex has ten so far in her phone and just needs a few more to complete her game.

That is until they are in Charlie's grandpa's attic looking for a map when Charlie, finds this old machine and accidentally hits the button. At first they didn't think it was a big deal, until Bex looks in her phone and all her monsters are gone. It seems that when Charlie hit this button, it made the monsters come alive and are now invading the town.

Now they must try and recapture the monsters before they do damage to the people and the town. So they are out to get all the monsters. They are going to need the help of some of the other people who play this game. One of them is Bex's old friend Willa, she and Bex were close friends but for some reason not anymore. Willa agrees to help them. The hunt is on to try and get all of them back into the phone.

Kim Harrington writes such great books for children. This is the second book that I have read of Harrington's and have to say one is as great as the next. My nephew will be getting this book. He is going to love it. He really loves playing games, on his tablet.

I also like the interaction between Bex and Charlie, what a great relationship these two kids have. Something I feel now there really is not too many close friendships with children. The way that Harrington describes the monsters and how they act is terrific. Anybody, young or old will love these books.

Waiting for the next one to come out. What adventure will Bex and Charlie face next?

SUMMARY

What happens when your cool virtual-reality game . . . becomes REAL? Pokémon GO meets The Goonies in this action-packed middle-grade series. Monsters Unleashed—where you catch virtual-reality monsters on your cellphone—is one of the hottest mobile games around, and Bex and Charlie just can’t stop playing. They even check out an old map in Charlie’s grandfather’s attic in hopes of discovering some forgotten places in town where the rarest monsters might hide. But they find a strange machine up there too, and after Charlie switches it on, the WiFi goes down . . . and Bex’s entire catalog of monsters vanishes! And that’s not the worst of it: all the creatures she’s collected on her phone escape into the real world. Can the friends nab the beasts before they become monster lunch?
