DAUGHTER OF THE ALIEN WARRIOR is the third book in the “Treasured by the Alien” series by Honey Phillips. Typical of other books in this series, this is a good book for readers who like a healthy mix of sexy and sweet. Although this story has characters who appeared in previous books, I think it works as a standalone novel as well. The author introduces Jade by giving a little background on her past and how she came to be abducted by aliens. There are many different varieties of aliens in this story – both in physical characteristics, intelligence, and temperament. For readers with triggers, Jade is put in some uncomfortable situations, but it mostly rises to the level of being threatened, and the episodes are few and of a short duration.
Jade is a human woman living on Earth, when her husband dies, and her baby abducted. She stakes out the area where her husband was taking her baby on a walk before everything went south. She could have never imagined that the answer would be from outer space. Honey Phillips scatters background information throughout the early part of this book to give the reader a better understanding of the dysfunctional relationship she had with her husband, and what her life was like on a daily basis. Likewise, the author tells part of this story from Inzen’s perspective – both as a Circe warrior and as somebody who lost two people he loved under tragic circumstances. While Jade and Inzen have both known loss, those losses are very different.
What ends up connecting Jade and Inzen is baby Lily or, as Jade originally named her, baby Hannah. Jade is an incredibly strong woman – much like Ripley in the classic film ALIEN. Inzen slowly wins her over and woos her, when their initial and perhaps unlikely attraction seems evident. Inzen is part of the rescuing and welcoming party of Circe warriors and humans. Despite Inzen having reptilian skin and a tail, he has a mostly human male toned build and a heart of gold. This proves irresistible to Jade. I like how the relationship between Jade and Inzen evolves over the course of DAUGHTER OF THE ALIEN WARRIOR. In many ways, Inzen is the caring, loving, and strong male that she wished her husband would have been.
DAUGHTER OF THE ALIEN WARRIOR has swoon-worthy alien hero and a kickass heroine. There are a few expected and some unexpected surprises along the way, but the focus of this story is on romance and the relationship built between the main characters. I love Inzen and the heroes from previous books in this series because they prove that a hero can be “alpha” without being a jerk. This is very much a character-driven story. I love this series, and eagerly await Honey Phillips’ scfi romance.
Can a grieving alien warrior and a desperate mother overcome their painful pasts through the shared love of a child?
One year ago, Jade’s husband was killed and the baby she had wanted for so long disappeared. She has been searching for her daughter ever since. Nothing - not even being abducted by aliens - is going to stop her.
She doesn’t expect to find a daughter who doesn’t know her; one who clings to a huge, green alien instead. Despite her own attraction to the older warrior, she will do whatever it takes to get her daughter back.
Inzen lost his wife and daughter many years ago in the terrible plague that threatened to destroy the Cire race. When his ship rescued a group of abducted women and infants, he willingly took on the care of one of the children.
Then a luscious human female appears, demanding the return of her daughter and he is faced with once again losing a child.
When danger threatens, can Jade and Inzen come together for the sake of the child they both love?
Each book in the Treasured by the Alien series can be read as a standalone romance. This sweet and steamy HEA is intended for mature readers.
