Matt Bergstrom makes amazingly detailed somewhat miniature versions of houses and landmarks possible to construct. He uses his talents as a graphic designer, photographer, and artist to illustrate detailed scenes. His drawings are gorgeous. And so I wasn't the least bit surprised at the miniature sections depicting all parts of a haunted house, including some ghoulish inhabitants.
There is definitely a tense of whimsy in the CUT & ASSEMBLE HAUNTED HOUSE. The pages are great quality matte finish card stock. Each piece is outline in solid to show where to cut. And then there are the dashed lines for folding. Every piece is accompanied with rather simple instructions and some construction steps give you several options. You can choose whether to go the easy way or really challenged yourself and your imagination and go with some of the surprise elements. The house is easy to construct with either glue or double sided tape. But you do need a sharp pointed scissor and a tweezer especially an adult working with some rather smaller pieces.
CUT & ASSEMBLE HAUNTED HOUSE by Matt Bergstrom is designed for ages twelve and up, grade six and up. If you have a very patient young teen with nimble fingers, then it might work for a slightly younger child. Great project to make on the weekend as a family to decorate the home for Halloween. I estimate the finished size to be about ten to twelve inches high and the same in width. When completed your haunted house will be complete with lawn, characters, and decorated internal rooms.
