Finn felt that he found the love of his life with Layla. But twelve years
ago, things changed. On their way home from a skiing trip, Layla
disappeared out of the car at a rest stop. Now twelve years later, Finn is
once again happy with his new love Ellen. Ellen is Layla's sister, and
they met at the memorial service for Layla. The reasons behind Layla's
disappearance are painful for everyone involved, and Finn may not have
been totally honest with police when he was questioned all those years
ago.
Finn and Ellen were planning their wedding, until one day mysterious
Russian dolls start to show up on their doorstep. When Ellen and Layla
were younger, they each had a set of these dolls. Ellen's set was
missing the smallest one, but Layla always claimed she didn't have it.
The doll that shows up on their doorstep is the same one that Ellen was
missing. Ellen has the feeling that Layla is still alive. To top this off, Finn
starts getting emails from someone claiming to be Layla.
Finn is keeping the emails a secret because he doesn't want Ellen to
know that maybe Layla is still alive. Finn goes to their old home to see if
perhaps she is there, but she isn't. Layla's emails keep coming, now
making demands of Finn. "Layla" wants to know if Finn loves Ellen more
than her, and wants him to either get rid of Ellen or she will. Not only is
she demanding, but she also keeps putting more Russian dolls at their
doorstep. Will Finn finally meet up with this person claiming to be Layla,
or is all of this just a hoax?
I have read all of B.A. Paris' books. Every book is better than the last
one. I really liked how Paris kept me guessing throughout BRING ME BACK. I was shocked by
the events that took place in this storyline. I have to say that I really
didn't expect the outcome.
Paris really has a vivid imagination; I don't think that I could ever come
up with this kind of story. Paris also shows that secrets will always
come out in the end. How this one didn't come out sooner really
shocked me. Both Finn and Ellen were keeping secrets that would
destroy each other. If you really enjoy a really great, suspenseful
mystery, pick this one up. I just couldn't put it down and read it in one
day!
She went missing. He moved on. A whole world of secrets
remained—until now.
Finn and Layla are young, in love, and on vacation.
They’re driving along the highway when Finn decides to
stop at a service station to use the restroom. He hops
out of the car, locks the doors behind him, and goes
inside. When he returns Layla is gone—never to be seen
again. That is the story Finn told to the police. But it
is not the whole story.
Ten years later Finn is engaged to Layla’s sister, Ellen.
Their shared grief over what happened to Layla drew them
close and now they intend to remain together. Still,
there’s something about Ellen that Finn has never fully
understood. His heart wants to believe that she is the
one for him...even though a sixth sense tells him not to
trust her.
Then, not long before he and Ellen are to be married,
Finn gets a phone call. Someone from his past has seen
Layla—hiding in plain sight. There are other odd
occurrences: Long-lost items from Layla’s past that keep
turning up around Finn and Ellen’s house. Emails from
strangers who seem to know too much. Secret messages,
clues, warnings. If Layla is alive—and on Finn’s trail—
what does she want? And how much does she know?
A tour de force of psychological suspense, Bring Me Back
will have you questioning everything and everyone until
its stunning climax.
