Thriller Psychological | Thriller Domestic

THE GIRL I USED TO BE written by Mary Torjussen is a psychological thriller that has a twist at the end that is not what I had expected! Toriussen keeps your attention in this suspense with surprises throughout each chapter. The story is told by two different characters' point of view keeping you obsessed with this novel.

Gemma Brogan is a real estate agent who owns her own company and has a loving husband who stays home with their young son. Her past ends up haunting her when she has dinner with a prospective client and wakes the next morning with a hangover and very little memory of what happened the night before.

The worse comes days later when she starts receiving things in the mail from that night. Videos, pictures, recordings, etc. meaning someone knows what happened even if she does not. This someone is blackmailing her, will she find out who it is before it is too late? This blackmail brings up things from the past that she must confront. She may find out that things are never what they seem.

A story with many twists in it, THE GIRL I USED TO BE really leaves you baffled as much as the main character at her unfortunate turn of events until you see where Torjussen takes the story at the end. Mary Torjussen has another great psychological suspense on her hands that will keep her readers wanting more of her talents.

SUMMARY

The acclaimed author of Gone Without a Trace delivers
another twisting novel of psychological suspense in which a
woman is backed against a wall--with nothing left to
lose...The morning after real estate agent Gemma
Brogan has dinner with a prospective client, she's furious
at herself for drinking so much. But there will be more to
regret than a nasty hangover. She starts receiving
mementos from that night: A photo of a hallway kiss. A video
of her complaining about her husband. And worse...much
worse. The problem is she doesn't remember any of
it.As the blackmailing and menace ramp up, Gemma
fears for her already shaky marriage. The paranoia, the
feeling that her life is spiraling out of control, will take
her back to another night--years ago--that changed
everything. And Gemma will realize just how far the shadows
from her past can reach...
