Mystery Cozy

Every month the Culinary Capers' group alternates hosting a themed dinner. Allison Manovich is the host this month and suggested a picnic as a lovely idea for their meeting. Unfortunately, she didn't expect to find the dead body of her estranged husband in the back of her SUV. Now Allison, a police officer, is suspended while the murder is investigated. Fellow Culinary Capers member, J.J. Tanner can't sit idly by while Allison's innocence is in question. It's up to J.J. and the rest of the Culinary Capers group to uncover who the real murderer is. MARINATING IN MURDER is the third book in the Dinner Club mystery series, but can easily be read on its own merits. Linda Wiken does a great job at introducing the characters and their relationships so that new readers to the series (like me) can jump right in and enjoy the story line. Allison has kept her private life very quiet from the rest of the Culinary Capers' group so much of the information about her appears to be new to all the readers, not just those of us jumping into the series midstream. I love the concept behind the Culinary Capers Dinner Club! The cooking expertise varies between the members, but the respect each one shows the others for the sheer appreciation they have of their hobby is encouraging to see. The various recipes and cookbooks referenced made me hungry to experiment right along with the dinner club members! MARINATING IN MURDER has some romantic undertones as J.J. has a working relationship that teeters on being more with private investigator, Ty Devine. However, during the course of investigating the murder, she is also wooed by Brad Patterson. My one regret at not reading the prior books in the series is my lack of understanding of the earlier interactions between Ty and J.J., as I feel this would have helped me appreciate the romantic aspects of the story line a bit more than I did. MARINATING IN MURDER is a fun and entertaining cozy mystery. Linda Wiken has created a likable cast of characters and I look forward to getting to know the other members of the Culinary Capers Dinner Club much more in future books. If you enjoy scrumptious recipes and an engaging cozy mystery, then MARINATING IN MURDER may be your cup of tea.

SUMMARY

The third in a delicious series featuring a dinner club that tries out new recipes--while trying to catch a killer The Culinary Capers Dinner Club is planning a fall picnic for their next meeting. What could be better than sharing delicious food with friends under a beautiful autumn sky? But when club member Alison Malkovich opens the back of her SUV to load in the picnic supplies, she finds a dead body. To make things worse, it's the body of her ex-husband, and now she's the prime suspect. Because Alison is a police officer, she is suspended and warned not to do any investigating of her own. That's not about to stop J.J. and the Culinary Capers gang though. They know that Alison is innocent, and after all, they do have some experience solving crimes. INCLUDES DELICIOUS RECIPES
