Childrens | Fiction Adventure

What would you do if someone on the news tells you that in less than a week there would no longer be any chocolate available? That is just what happened where Jennifer Wellington, nicked named Jelly Welly, lives. Jelly knows that something just isn't right. How could all the chocolate just disappear? After this announcement, the whole town is going nuts. People are running out trying to buy as much chocolate as possible. While the panic is happening, Jelly also has a science project that is due on the same day that chocolate will disappear. Jelly comes up with an idea: she takes a small bit of chocolate, places in a box and hides it in their shed. Jelly and her grandmother start investigating why chocolate will mysteriously disappear. The queen of their country tells everyone that one chocolate bar will be sent to every family. As Jelly and her family wait for the bar, they notice their noisy neighbor, Mrs. Bumstable, looking up and down the street. Jelly's family never gets their chocolate, leading to them following Mrs. Bumstable, who leads them to Gari. Gari is hoarding all of the chocolate, and paying Mrs. Bumstable to steal as much chocolate from the neighborhood as possible... THE CHOCOPOCALYPSE a great children's book written by Chris Callaghan. I enjoyed it and am sure when I give it to my niece she will love it. Callaghan has a great imagination while writing this book. I feel that he had to really think as a young child would think. Callaghan really writes with some humor. Who would ever think that we would run out of chocolate? I am sure if this ever happened, people would do the same thing that the people in this town did. Every time I go to the store I look at the chocolate and feel like I have to stock up! This is a great book for any young reader. Even adults will enjoy it!

SUMMARY

Life for Jelly Welly—or Jennifer Wellington—is totally and utterly normal in Chompton-on-de-Lyte. She lives with her mum and dad and gran, has nosy neighbors who like to gossip, and really needs to think of a science project that will get her a good grade. But when news breaks of an impending chocopocalypse, her whole world—and the world at large—is thrown into utter chaos. With only six days left until no more chocolate, Jelly has a sneaking suspicion that something isn’t right. She and her gran investigate, picking up on a mysterious trail of clues. Is it really the dreaded chocopocalypse, or is there a mastermind behind the madness?
