IN PIECES by Danielle Pearl is a new adult romance that is all
about starting over and second chances. This book touches on a
lot of tough issues that many college students today are
dealing with. Pearl has written a story about a touchy subject
in a way that is caring and tender but shows strength within
the character. IN PIECES is remarkably executed with a vivid
story and life like characters. You will become attached to the
characters in this novel so much so you will cry with them, and
argue right alongside of them. Pearl pulls at all of your
emotions ripping your heart out and then putting it back
together stronger than ever. The way the story shares scenes of
emotional and physical drama from one's past and weaves it into
the current situation making is mesh together so beautifully. IN PIECES is a story that is sure to tug at your heart and
one that you will not easily forget. I like the way the
author uses the setting
to help create the perfect backdrop for a story that is so
powerfully emotional that you will need to have tissues on
hand. The plot is not a new one but is written with a twist
that makes it completely different yet the still the same. The
story has just enough romance that it does not overshadow the
overall plot and theme. IN PIECES is a story that will open your eyes to the
circumstances and situations that many have to deal with but
never talk about. A story that will stay with you long after
reading. A good new adult contemporary romance novel.
SUMMARY
Three years ago she was left in pieces . . . Most college freshmen love the newfound freedom of living on
campus, but none of them craves it like Beth Caplan. One
ill-fated night when she was fifteen left her locked in a
posh prison of private tutors. It's for the best,
everyone said, and maybe it was. But after years of hard
work and healing, the one person who never thought of her as
broken could be the one to break her all over again. And
Beth can't seem to stay away now any more than she could all
those years ago. As soon as David March learned his best friend's little
sister was enrolling at his school, he promised to look
after her, and promised himself he'd keep a safe distance.
But the sweet little girl he'd grown up with has transformed
into a gorgeous young woman, and she's attracting attention
from people she shouldn't-like the ex who nearly destroyed
her and a strange new student with a disturbing habit of
showing up wherever Beth goes. But for David, the most
troubling discovery is realizing that he doesn't just want
Beth to be safe. He wants her to be his.
