Nate and Olivia have been together for more than a decade, with respective careers and two young kids keeping them busy. Their life together as a couple started as friends with benefits, but soon progressed to something much deeper and loving. Now, looking back at a decade of marriage Olivia feels they are growing apart or maybe something is slowly tearing them apart. It's Olivia's birthday soon and they recently had a very lackluster anniversary pass by them. With a major milestone approaching Liv decides to have it out with Nate. Next they are having a fight, pacifying their terrified kids, and Liv's friends are planning her 40th. Nate might just surprise her and whisk her off to a much needed couple time.
ON HART'S BOARDWALK is a novella about the couple getting their marriage back on track. Their love story is a whole length novel part of the On Dublin Street series by the author Samantha Young. However, this novella is a story in and of itself. If you haven't read the series, it will not take away from the current story.
I enjoyed how these characters hash out their distance and remind each other how much love they have for each other. Of course there is a fair amount of steamy scenes which were vital for Nate and Olivia as a couple. Their chemistry no doubt shines through and made my toes curl a few times. I loved their story of coming together and it was a pleasure to meet them and some of the other characters of the series again.
As a novella, ON HART'S BOARDWALK is a great option as a quick, refreshing, feel good read.
