I enjoyed reading this very down to earth, romance and family novel taking place during the Spring of 1866 in Gallatin Valley, Montana Territory. What an enjoyable read! I could not put TRUSTING GRACE by Maggie Brendan down. Each time I laid it down I could not wait to start reading it again.
Grace Bidwell's husband passed away leaving her their potato farm. Her very loving father, who is not well, lives with Grace. One day during her visit to town, she meets up with three beautiful children in a mercantile store. She takes note that they are unclean and their clothes are worn and dirty. Her heart goes out to them and she treats them to some sweets. While at the store, she hands the owner a help wanted ad to post on the wall. She is very much in need of help at the farm. Grace is so very tired from doing so much work at the farm, she is hoping that someone will come through town and fill the help wanted ad. Her father, who recently had a stroke, can no longer help her. Fortunately, as the story goes along there are some wonderful break throughs for her father, Owen.
Robert Frasier who's wife passed away not long ago, left three surprises for him, her three children she never told him about. After his wife, Ada, passed, her sister just dropped off the children to Robert and told him they were his to take care of now. Being a good man, Robert took the children in, but soon lost his farm. He drifted with the children, living off the land, cooking up whatever they could to survive. When Robert befriends the mercantile owner where Grace posted the help wanted ad, Robert goes to visit Grace to fill the position. Robert is a very good looking man and Grace a very pretty woman, this story just keeps getting better and better with every turn of the page.
Can Robert ever trust another woman again after what his wife did? Can Grace let Robert into her heart? Will Grace's father truly find out what made his health decline? Who is the mysterious woman now in Owen's life who will help him? Will Grace ever have the childen she's always wanted? Will both Richard and Grace learn to keep the faith and work together for themselves and family?
TRUSTING GRACE is a must read! I have never had the pleasure of reading Maggie Brendan's books, but my life will soon be filled with her great novels! I cannot give too much away, but I would not pass up on this great read!
