Varius is a world ruled by a powerful Vampire family. Initially ruled by twins, one twin harnessed evil to kill their sibling making sole ruler. Now much much later the family has spread out, ruling as all monarchs do, by demanding the loyalty and fidelity of those around them. In this case, humans must bow to the vampires and be grateful for what little they have.

Arabelle is tired of the way humans are treated, barely surviving, some disappearing to never be seen again and all but the special few suffering. Now she will fight. The fight will start at the banquet where the youngest prince is to chose his next blood slave, only she does not plan on letting Prince Marius live.

Prince Marius is different from the rest of his family. He hates the glitter and the parties and he does not like having to pick a new woman to keep and feed from. When he sees Arabelle he is fascinated and will do anything to have her, even after she tries to kill him.

A very interesting twist ends THE BLACK LILY by Juliette Cross in a grand way. The characters are entrancing and you will enjoy every moment of getting to know them. A very well done book that will be enjoyed by everyone who reads it.
