Sometimes an event that knocks you on your butt, off your
feet or in this case ice skates, can turn into an
enlightening time. A time to take stock of your life and
perhaps offer an uninvited, unexpected look into your
future. I like to call this your new normal. Most everyone
has to face challenges and changes and in MAYBE THIS
CHRISTMAS by Jennifer Show there is a lot of both in the air.
You could call it having your cake and eating it too. Old
fashioned as it seems mothers are always lecturing about not
giving away the milk without buying the cow. So when two
consenting adults have been indulging in several years of
friends with benefits it's an awesome challenge to move to
a more connected relationship. One with the word love
attached. And to a confirmed single hockey star that's a
move he just hasn't mastered.
Asher Westmore along with his brothers Jackson and Ben
practically grew up on ice skates. You have to be tough to
be a professional hockey player. Learn how to take hits
along with fabulous wins and heartbreaking losses. Those
hits hurt and can cause some physical challenges to recover.
Lucky for Asher his best friend Emma was once again there
for him while he rehabbed from knee surgery. Asher was a
smart guy and was beginning to see the writing on the wall.
Emma was moving on in her own personal career as a Physical
Therapist. And this signaled a possible, no probable change
in their relationship.
So the burning question is does Asher acknowledge his
feelings for Emma, putting him and his heart on the line. Or
is it just a case of Asher worrying that he will miss his
friend with benefits. Asher does not like to lose but
winning Emma's heart is not a game. Its reality, a
relationship hangs in the balance. Emma has been waiting a
long time for Asher to catch up. Her feeling is true and
sold, and she wants, no expects nothing less from Asher.
Jennifer Snow is a Canadian and never doubt that as one she
knows hockey. Having said that Snow also knows a lot about
love and relationships and her books show it. Great coupling
is an art and once again in MAYBE THIS CHRISTMAS, we are
introduced to a wonderful complex pair of characters who
come to life on every page thanks to wordsmith Jennifer
Snow. Problem with any of her books is they end too soon
leaving you wanting more. Never too late to join the growing
ranks of Jennifer Snow fans, Colorado
Ice series is lovely and memorable.
All wrapped up . . . One more game. That's all that stands between NHL star Asher Westmore and a major career milestone. But then his brother bashes him against the hockey boards, sidelining him for months. Over Christmas holidays, no less. If staying off the ice doesn't drive him crazy, staying with his family will. The only bright spot amidst the mistletoe and twinkle lights: His best friend, Emma, is a physical therapist. And working out with her improves his body and his spirit. One last time. Emma Callaway was in trouble the minute she and Asher added benefits to their friendship. How is she supposed to resist a funny, caring guy who makes her toes curl? Her heart was safe while he lived in a different state. Now that he's back home recuperating, though, it's only a matter of time before she blurts out her feelings. Emma's only hope is that with a little holiday magic, she'll get the best Christmas gift of all.
