Thriller
Kate witnessed a murder, now she is in protected custody
because she will have to testify in court about what she
saw. The person suspected of the murder comes from a very
rich family and will do anything to protect the accused. Nick Adams used to be a policeman. Nick, not his real name,
now helps people hide. The reason is that a lot of these
people have a target on their back. All of these people have
one thing in common; they all are to testify again the same
person, Russell. But Lane Connor, Russell's brother has
different plans for these people. Death. Nick lost his wife because of this same murder and that is
why his goal is to protect all of these people. Nick left
Kate a cell phone, telling her that being in protective
custody is not going to keep her alive. One night Nick gets
the call but when he rushes over to where Kate is staying he
finds a dead body in her bedroom. Nick tells her she must
come with him and Kate agrees and they are now on the run. Nick and Kate along with Nick's team are all over the
world. Kate is having a very hard time dealing with all of
this. Nick does his best to try and explain to her why they
can't trust the police. One by one Nick's people are being
picked off. Nick is trying his best to save as many as he can. All I can say is WOW. LONG TIME LOST had so many different
twist and turns. I was shocked at the ending, not what I
had expected. Chris Ewan, you had me going in so many
different directions. Every time I thought I had this one
figured out, no, you throw in another twist. Sometimes I
hate the main character Nick, what he went through, then I
learned to love him. If there is one comment I can make is that I would like to
see a sequel to this book. Would like to find out if Nick
and Kate made it. Did he reconnect with his daughter? I got
to say LONG TIME LOST is great, one of the better thriller I
have read in a long time. Buy it and enjoy.
SUMMARY
“Don’t call anyone else and stay inside the house. Pack a
small bag. Just one.” “You’ll come, then?” “I’ll be there soon. But remember, Kate: there’s no going
back.” Nick Miller and his team provide a unique and highly illegal
service, relocating at-risk individuals across Europe with
new identities and new lives. Nick excels at what he does
for a reason: he himself spent years living in the shadows
under an assumed name. But when Nick steps in to prevent the attempted murder of
witness-in-hiding Kate Sutherland on the Isle of Man, he
triggers a chain of events with devastating consequences for
everyone he protects. Kate—and now Nick—are under attack by
Connor Lane, a man who will stop at nothing to get what he
wants, even if it means tearing Nick’s entire network apart… Chris Ewan's Long Time Lost is a fast-paced
stand-alone thriller that The Independent (UK) calls
"masterful...Fellow novelist Ann Cleeves' description of
[Chris Ewan] as a 'master storyteller' pretty well hits the
nail on the head."
