Barb and J.C. Hendee do a marvelous job at crafting a
dark, forbidding world. The world building isn't overly
complex but instead sets exactly the tone we need in
order to believe in the dark spirits haunting their
world. I love the concept of the ghost hunter and Tris'
secret makes me even more eager to read the second book
to see how this all will unfold.
Barb and J.C. Hendee show us the tragedies that Tris and
Mari have endured, making their reticence towards others
understandable. Neither Tris nor Mari is immediately
likable but we grow to love them despite their very
prickly personalities. However, it is Heil who intrigues
me the most and I hope we get to spend more time with him
in the second book of the series.
THE DEAD SEEKERS is fascinating start to what promises to
be a somewhat spooky and mysterious dark fantasy series.
